Colleen Corcoran is the designer and owner of Happy Hanky and the HANK.
Her love of hankies started at age 7 when her mom gave her one for her First Communion. She recalls always carrying it in her handbag because it made her feel very lady-like and sophisticated.
Colleen read many blogs and articles over the years about men and women wanting to purchase some fun, modern handkerchiefs for everyday use or special occasions. When Colleen could not find any pretty hankies to give her own bridal party, she was inspired to design the Happy Hanky line. When the men in her life started to ask her to make handkerchiefs for them too, the HANK was born.
She named the women’s line Happy Hanky after recalling that her mom told her hankies hold memories from happy tears, like laughing so hard you cry with friends or at weddings. The feel-good poem found on the package of each Happy Hanky was written by her mom, Marcy Renay. Colleen wanted to give the men’s line a name that was both modern and masculine which is why she decided on the HANK.
Colleen has worked in the Visual Merchandising and Marketing industry for more than ten years. She loves cocktail rings, antiquing, scoping out good food finds and spending time with her husband, Jeff, and their son. She began collecting hankies when she was in college and last counted over 150 pieces in her collection.
